World of Warcraft: Dragonflight and Wrath of the Lich King Classic revealed

Just as promised, last night Blizzard officially announced the next World of Warcraft expansion, Dragonflight, complete with a new playable race and class. Alongside the new expansion, World of Warcraft Classic will also be getting the Wrath of the Lich King expansion later this year.

It turns out the leaks from earlier this week were accurate. Dragonflight will introduce a new playable race and class – Dracthyr Evokers. The new expansion will send players on a new adventure to the dragon homeland and offer a return to World of Warcraft's high fantasy roots. According to Blizzard president, Mike Ybarra, the expansion will also bring overhauls to “many of the game's underlying systems”.

In Dragonflight, the level cap will increase to 70 and players will be able to learn a new skill, Dragonriding, which will involve skill-based aerial movement. The game's talent system has also been revamped, professions have been improved and the game's UI has been updated.

Unfortunately, while previous leaks claimed Dragonflight would launch in November, Blizzard did not announce a release date for the expansion. Instead, Wrath of the Lich King for World of Warcraft Classic will be releasing later this year.

With Wrath of the Lich King Classic, players will return to Northrend to reexperience some of the best storylines WoW has to offer. As you would expect, the expansion includes the Death Knights class, the Inscription profession, new achievements and the original dungeons and raid.
