Remedy’s Control officially surpasses 6 million copies sold

Earlier this year, the team at Remedy Entertainment revealed that their excellent 3rd-person metroidvania-esque shooter Control had officially sold over 5 million copies since its launch back in 2019. With its sequel Control Resonant set to release some time this year however, interest in the first entry has grown significantly, with the original Control having now surpassed 6 million total copies sold.

As part of the company’s latest investor report, Remedy Entertainment offered updates on their current projects, including the Max Payne remake; the aforementioned Control Resonant and a mysterious new project currently in its proof-of-concept stage.

Alongside this, the team also shared updated sales stats for the first Control, revealing that the title has now sold over 6 million copies.

While an impressive achievement in its own right, this marks a notable uptick in sales over the past few months, with the most recent update prior revealing that the game had shifted 5 million copies by February of this year.

Control Million

At the time, the team revealed that 1 million copies were sold in 2025 alone – half a decade on from its initial launch. It appears as though excitement towards its sequel has led to a major influx in sales however, having now pushed a further 1 million units in under 3 months.

Remedy has always struggled somewhat when it comes to turning their unique offerings into financially successful products. That said, it seems Control has managed to break past the glass ceiling. It will be interesting to see how quickly Resonant manages to find success.
