Apple sell 2 million ipads, bigger than Microsoft

The iPad – love it or hate it, there is just no getting away from it. The latest sales figures in last night show that Apple have sold 2 million units in just under 2 months … yep, less than 60 days.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs said “Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do. We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.” He had spent the last hour counting the small change in his pocket.

Jobs seems a rather happy chap lately, and rightly so because Apple are now worth more than Microsoft at over $222 billion compared to Microsoft's paltry $219 billion. Apple are now officially one of the biggest technology companies on the planet, in fact the only US company actually bigger than Apple now are Exxon Mobil, who are worth $281 billion. Drilling for oil seems to be slightly more profitable still than selling computers and media devices.
