Blizzard issues warning to StarCraft II cheaters

Blizzard has issued a warning to those thinking about cheating in StarCraft II, stating that cheaters will be banned in waves as well as on a case by case basis upon receiving reports from other players. However, the company admits that it can't go in to much detail on its methods.

In a post on the Battle.net blog, the developer said: “Blizzard Entertainment has always taken active measures to combat cheating in our games, and that's of particular importance for a highly competitive game like StarCraft II. If a StarCraft II player is found to be cheating or using hacks or modifications in any form, then that player can be permanently banned from the game.”

“While we can't go into much detail about these methods, we can say that players caught cheating in this way are generally banned in waves. This is done so as not to tip off program developers regarding our detection methods, as well as to maximize the return on our detection effects.”

“Ban waves are issued in contrast to the other methods mentioned above, where bans are issued on an individual, account-by-account basis. Through these means, any player who is determined to be in violation of our terms and conditions by using hacks, cheats, mods or any other unauthorized third-party software will be banned.”

All bans are permanent so unless you want to buy the game again and create a completely new account, you'd be better off not risking it.

KitGuru Says: There's nothing worse than playing a game with hackers, especially in a competitive game like StarCraft. Unfortunately, there's always going to be a cheater or two around.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.

  1. Battlefield/EA needs to read this and take a hint. I personally get tired of all the obvious hacks running in the game.

  2. EA dont give 2 damns about players… rather leave something broken in beta all the way till game dies… i can name lots of games that are broken that EA still has to fix.. yet hasnt…

  3. at least its a good support from the developer to avoid unfair gaming not like other developer that has no feelings but money.

  4. Is this article refering to online? or offline? or both?

  5. It will apply to all game modes more than likely since alot of blizzards games are now run through the battle.net app
