Avowed delayed to early 2025

Xbox has offered gamers some more time to clear their backlogs heading into the final months of 2024 by delaying the release of Avowed until early 2025. The highly anticipated action RPG from Obsidian Entertainment is now slated for release on February 18th, 2025.

While the delay may disappoint some fans, it does alleviate the congestion in an already-packed autumn gaming schedule. Instead of competing with titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and Assassin's Creed Shadows, Avowed will now debut in the comparatively less crowded Q1 2025.

Alongside the delay announcement, Xbox also hinted at unveiling more information about upcoming games, including releases from Activision, Blizzard, and Bethesda, during Gamescom 2024. There will be a livestream on August 23rd that will showcase new Avowed gameplay. We are also expecting to see more of Starfield: Shattered Space and Indiana Jones at Gamescom.

KitGuru says: Given that Avowed didn't get a proper release date during the Xbox Game Showcase in June, I think many of us expected this delay to happen.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
