MSI Claw to launch in the US this week

MSI officially unveiled its first gaming handheld, the MSI Claw, back at CES. While we have hardware specs, we don't yet have an official launch date. Over in the US though, the handheld should be available as early as this week.

Starting on the 8th of March, the MSI Claw handheld will be available in the US. A product listing on Newegg is already live. This seems to be part of an initial ‘first wave', with a second wave of MSI Claw handhelds coming to the MSI store on the 12th of March, followed by wider retail availability via Best Buy and Micro Center on March 15th.

The MSI Claw will be one of just a few Intel-powered handheld gaming PCs on the market. The most popular solutions at the moment, like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, both use an AMD APU instead. The Claw will have an Intel Meteor Lake chip under the hood, with Xe graphics cores to provide some extra horsepower for gaming.

The handheld will also have a 7-inch, 1080p/120Hz display, integrated controllers and USB-C charging. Future versions of the Claw handheld are already in the works, MSI confirmed to IGN.

KitGuru Says: It will be interesting to see final tests and comparisons between the MSI Claw and other handhelds in the weeks ahead. Are you thinking about picking one up when they become more widely available?

Unfortunately, part of this plan seems to include the closure of many different first party studios. While officially, we still do not know exactly what’s in store, insiders have claimed that Microsoft is hoping to still release all of its previously-announced games in one form or another.
