October’s PlayStation Plus Essential line-up officially announced

Each month, all those who are subscribed to Sony’s PlayStation Plus Essential tier are privy to 3 or so games for ‘free’. For the month of October, the console maker is offering a varied selection covering a wide range of genres, including the popular extraction shooter Hunt: Showdown 1896 and EA’s F1 25.

Available to add to your library from the 6th of October, this month’s PS Plus Essential line-up features the following”

  • F1 25 [PS5]
  • Hunt: Showdown 1896 [PS5]
  • Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 [PS5|PS4]

Developed by Codemasters, F1 25 is the latest entry in the long-running Formula 1 (and 2) racing series. Released a little over a year ago, F1 25 is the first game in a decade to receive more than a single year of support, with EA instead opting to build upon last year’s title with a paid expansion. Either way, the base game itself is worth checking out for those who enjoy a more regulated style of racing game.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 meanwhile is the current edition of Crytek’s much-loved first-person extraction shooter. First released back in 2018 in Early Access, the game would see a plethora of improvements over the years, culminating in the arrival of the enhanced ‘Hunt: Showdown 1896’ – dropping last-gen support while upgrading the underlying game engine. Unlike many extraction shooters nowadays, Hunt: Showdown focuses on slow and methodical gameplay while putting a great deal of importance on its PvE elements.

F1 25; Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 will all be free to claim from the 6th of October until the 2nd of November. In case you missed it, you still have just under a week to add September’s PlayStation Plus offerings to your library, the details of which can be found HERE.
