Spotify announces plans to raise subscription prices

While most streaming services have raised their prices in recent years, Spotify has remained firm on the price of its Premium subscription. That will finally change this year, with Spotify's subscription prices set to rise in a few countries.

In the US, the Spotify Premium price is increasing from $9.99 to $10.99 per month. The Duo subscription option is going from $12.99 to $14.99 and the Family plan is going up from $15.99 to $16.99. The low-cost plan for Students is also going up from $4.99 to $5.99.

In the UK, the price of Premium is going up to £10.99 and the Family subscription will cost £17.99 per month. These pricing changes come after a round of cost-cutting that hit Spotify's podcasting segment in particular.

The price changes will go forward in the following countries: Andorra, Albania, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Spain, Finland, France, United Kingdom, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Croatia, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Monaco, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Serbia, Sweden, Singapore, Slovenia, Slovakia, San Marino, Thailand, Türkiye, United States, Kosovo.

While not officially announced, Spotify may soon introduce a new subscription option too, enabling higher bitrate music streaming called Spotify Hi-Fi.
