The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom launches in May

Following on from last year's delay, many of us wondered if The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom would make it out in the first half of 2023. Today, Nintendo can put all of our minds at ease, with today's Direct closing out with a new trailer and release date announcement.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild. This time around, Hyrule has been torn apart and portions of the land are floating in the sky. Link will journey both high and low in an effort to restore order.

The game is set to launch on the 12th of May, leaving the holiday season wide open for another surprise game. Given that Metroid Prime Remastered is finally on the way, perhaps we'll get our first look at Prime 4 before the year is through.

KitGuru Says: Tears of the Kingdom is finally releasing, but the Switch is beginning to struggle on the hardware front, so it will be interesting to see if the sequel holds up as well as Breath of the Wild did.
