Gran Turismo 7’s VR mode will be fully-featured with multiplayer and more

Gran Turismo 7 is an impressive PlayStation console exclusive for a number of reasons. Not only is the game rich with content, but it is also a tech showpiece, taking advantage of all the various PS5 hardware and software features. It was previously announced that GT7 would be getting a free PlayStation VR2 update, though details were light at the time. Now, we know that the VR version will in fact be a full and uncompromising experience.

As part of the announcement for the PSVR2’s launch line-up, Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital spoke on what fans can expect from the VR update for GT7, saying: “We're thrilled that Gran Turismo 7 will be a PS VR2 launch title! Through a free upgrade, for those who have already purchased Gran Turismo 7, players will experience all cars and tracks in VR like never before. GT7 in VR takes full advantage of PS VR2's next gen features.”

Going into further detail on what will and will not be playable in VR, Yamauchi continued, “With eye tracking and foveated rendering, players will experience stunning visual fidelity while racing in any of the 450+ cars. While 2-player splitscreen races are not supported in VR, all other races, including online races, will be available. From the Nürburgring to Tsukuba, tracks can be experienced exactly as they are in real life.”

Back with the original PlayStation VR, Sony released a virtual reality mode for the then-latest GT Sport. While a decent mode, it was much more static than the main game, lacking any AI racers while seeing a great deal of other compromises.

It is therefore highly exciting to see that GT7 on PSVR2 will pretty much offer a VR translation of the entire game when the update arrives alongside the PSVR2 on the 22nd of February.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
