Destiny 2: Lightfall is shaping up to be the best expansion yet

Last night, Bungie held its annual Destiny showcase to properly unveil the upcoming Lightfall expansion. The next major chapter in Destiny will be arriving in February, complete with a new area, new enemies and a whole new subclass. Better yet, Bungie has also announced that it will no longer be sunsetting expansions. Moving forward, everything from Shadowkeep onwards will remain in-game, with the exception of seasons, which will still expire.

Destiny 2: Lightfall will release on the 28th of February 2023, exactly one year after the excellent Witch Queen expansion. During the stream, Bungie noted that it received a ton of positive feedback for the Witch Queen campaign – especially the Legendary campaign mode, which increases difficulty and offers better rewards for completion. Bungie will be continuing this with Lightfall, which will also have a Legendary campaign mode.

As we can see in the trailer, Lightfall is going to take us to some very interesting new places. As it turns out, Earth's Last City is not actually the last safe haven for humanity. There has been a secret, human-occupied city on Neptune this whole time, and it is a neon-infused, cyberpunk-esque urban playground.

This city is where the biggest moments of the campaign will take place, as Guardians work together with the humans on Neptune to defend against The Witness's invasion. The new expansion will also introduce the ‘Strand' subclass, which includes a brand new grappling hook mechanic, completely changing up mobility and giving Guardians new ways to get to hard to reach areas.

For this week, anyone who downloads Destiny 2 on any platform can access the entire game, with all expansions unlocked, so if you're a bit behind and want to catch up, you can blast through the campaigns and gear up without spending extra money. This week also marks the launch of Destiny 2 on the Epic Games Store. Installing the game there will grant you with free access to the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack, which adds a couple new in-game activities, and grants quests for fan-favourite exotic weapons.

Unfortunately, unlike the game's season passes, which do transfer across platforms, the anniversary pack does not, so you'll be locked out of of parts of it if you hop around between PC and console.

KitGuru Says: Bungie is looking to make changes to the new player experience and improve the social-side of Destiny with Lightfall in an effort to get more players accessing the game's best content (raids, Nightfalls and Dungeons). However,

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
