AppLovin wants to acquire Unity in a deal worth $17.5 billion

Unity could potentially have new ownership soon. Mobile-focused company, AppLovin has proposed a buyout of Unity in a deal worth $17.5 billion.

AppLovin made the offer this week, presenting an all-stock deal currently worth just over $17.5 billion. Unity is now evaluating the offer, but the situation is a little complicated, as Unity is currently in the process of wrapping up a merger of its own. Unity recently acquired IronSource and is currently working towards finalising that deal. If Unity agrees to AppLovin's offer, then the IronSource acquisition could be scrapped.

Unity CEO, John Riccitiello, would be in a good position with this offer, as the proposal would see him become CEO of the newly merged company if Unity joins AppLovin.

For those who don't know, Unity began as a game engine company, focused on developers for all platforms. Nowadays, Unity is primarily popular amongst mobile app developers. AppLovin on the other hand is a mobile app analysis, marketing and publishing company with investments in a number of mobile game companies.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
