Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 spotted running Windows 11 ARM

We've been hearing about Microsoft launching Windows 11 for ARM devices for a while. For now, Microsoft is focusing on launching on mid-range ARM systems and up, leaving cheaper tablets out of the equation. Still, developers have not quit on that yet, as some have found a way to install the OS on the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5.

Since first getting the OS working on the tablet, developers have kept improving and fixing issues. As of now, it can even run various benchmarks, including Geekbench. That's according to Gizmochina, who has shared a benchmark entry showing the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 scoring 465 points in the single-core test and 1992 in the multi-core test while running Win11 ARM64.

Comparing these scores with Qualcomm's Windows-dedicated Snapdragon 8cx platform from Lenovo, the Xiaomi tablet is just 20-30% slower. That's pretty decent, considering the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon SM8150 (aka Snapdragon 860). We also have to take into account that all this is unofficial, and some drivers are missing, including the PEPs (Platform Extension Plug-ins) and the graphics driver.

However, the average Mi Pad 5 running Android is considerably faster, as the tablet can score 780 points in the single-core benchmark and 2800 in the multi-core one.
