Hitman 3 finally gets ray-tracing features on PC

Last year, IO Interactive confirmed plans to bring new graphical features to Hitman 3 on PC, but we've had no further updates since. That changed this week, with IO confirming that ray tracing, and support for FSR, DLSS and XeSS are all on the way. 

For starters, Hitman 3 will finally be getting ray-tracing features on PC, including ray traced reflections and shadows. Due to the performance cost of ray-tracing, new system requirements for Hitman 3 have also been announced. For ray-tracing, you are going to want an RTX 2060 Super or Radeon RX 6600 XT at minimum. The recommended spec for ray-tracing calls for an RTX 3070 or a Radeon RX 6900 XT.

While ray-tracing does come with a hefty performance penalty, there are multiple ways to improve your experience and claw some of that performance back. For Nvidia RTX users, you'll want to switch on DLSS, which is also coming to Hitman 3. AMD's own upscaling solution, FSR, is also heading to Hitman 3 as part of the ray-tracing update.

If that wasn't enough, Intel's new upscaling solution, XeSS, should also be heading to Hitman 3 eventually, but not at the same time as DLSS and FSR. Intel has been developing its own AI-upscaling tech alongside its new Arc Alchemist series GPUs for quite some time, but there is no word on when the first games will support the feature.
