Der8auer breaks GPU clock speed record, hits 3.225GHz on RX 6900 XT

The overclocker Roman “der8auer” Hartung has just broken the GPU clock speed world record with a PowerColor RX 6900 XT Liquid Devil Ultimate. This graphics card reportedly features the Navi 21 XTXH GPU, a pre-binned Navi 21 chip that clocks higher than the XT variant.

Der8auer started by setting a baseline using the PowerColor RX 6900 XT Liquid Devil Ultimate with the pre-installed water block. Using 3DMark TimeSpy, the overclocker reached 86ºC and a 2820 MHz clock speed, 295MHz more than the out-of-the-box maximum boost frequency.

To reach the 3225MHz (according to GPU-Z), Der8auer removed the water block and installed an LN2 container. The card showed some artefacts once it went below -87ºC, but after a few adjustments, he reached the 3225MHz.

The PowerColor RX 6900 XT Liquid Devil Ultimate might not be the only graphics card to feature the Navi 21 XTXH variant. According to VideoCardz, the ASRock RX 6900 XT OC Formula also features the Navi 21 XTXH GPU with higher overclocking capabilities.

KitGuru says: The system didn't seem to be completely stable, but this is still quite the achievement. Now we can only wonder when +3000MHz GPU clock speeds will become the norm.
