Super Bomberman R Online announced for PC and consoles

Recently we reported that Super Bomberman R Online was rated by the ESRB for release on PC. Now, Konami has made it official. The 64-player Super Bomberman R Online will be coming to PC and consoles in 2021.

Making the announcement, Konami said “Building on the success of its initial launch on Stadia in September 2020, SUPER BOMBERMAN R ONLINE is making its way to new platforms! This digital download exclusive game will be available in 2021 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. The game will also be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.”

Though no official release date has been announced, aside for a vague 2021, Konami confirmed that the game will feature full crossplay between all devices from launch, making the game as accessible as possible. As confirmed by Gematsu, the game will be free-to-play, though will include ‘premium packs’ which give access to “14 additional bomber characters that pay homage to classic Konami IPs such as Gradius, Silent Hill, Castlevania, and more!”

Super Bomberman R Online was one of the more unique battle royale-style games. It was a shame to see the title limited to Stadia, especially in the wake of the platform’s lack of success. It is therefore good to see the game get a second wind of life from its upcoming release onto other platforms. Hopefully we’ll hear more about its release date soon.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
