Halo: Campaign Evolved is a UE5 remake coming to Xbox, PC and PS5

For months, there have been rumours of a new remake for Halo: Combat Evolved, the original game that kicked the franchise off. This would be the second remastering of the original game, following Halo Anniversary for Xbox 360 and Xbox One. This new re-release also brings about another huge change – Halo will be available on PlayStation for the first time.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a complete remake of the original Combat Evolved campaign using Unreal Engine 5. Halo Studios has long been gearing up for a shift towards Unreal Engine for future games, and Campaign Evolved will be the start of that.

Halo: Campaign Evolved will also offer 4K visuals, updated animations, remastered music and re-recorded voice acting. Halo Studios is also bringing a selection of weapons and vehicles from later entries into the first game and adding three bonus missions for the campaign as well.

For a more comprehensive look at this remake, Microsoft has shared a playthrough of one of the campaign's most famous missions, The Silent Cartographer:

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that Halo's famous online multiplayer will be making its way over in this release. However, the game will support co-op campaign, either with two players locally in split-screen on console, or with up to four players online across Xbox, PC and PS5. Halo: Campaign Evolved will release in 2026.

KitGuru Says: Without multiplayer, this remake has limited appeal. On Xbox and PC, we already have the Master Chief Collection, allowing us to play this campaign (and many others) in its original form, or with the Anniversary graphics, and there is full access to multiplayer. For PlayStation gamers though, this is an opportunity for many to play Halo for the very first time.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
