PlayStation’s first PS5 TV ad goes live

The PlayStation 5 is mere months away and while we don't yet know how much the console will cost – or exactly when it will release – Sony has officially begun marketing its next-generation console to the world with the ad “Play Has No Limits.”

The live action advert focuses on three of PlayStation 5’s most unique selling points: the new haptics, the adaptive triggers, and the 3D audio. While nothing particularly new is gleamed from the ad, it indicates that Sony is beginning to ramp up its marketing in the lead-up to the launch of the PlayStation 5 some time this holiday season.

Giving context to the ad, SIE’s Vice President of Global Marketing, Mary Yee, said “PlayStation fans, I hope you are just as excited as I am for the launch of the PS5™ console this holiday season. Each console generation provides an opportunity to tell a unique story through our marketing. This new generation will be especially fun for us given the new suite of features that will come with the PS5 console.”

Though Sony itself has yet to officially announce it, the PlayStation 5 will most likely release in November (based on the release month for the PlayStation 4, as well as the upcoming Xbox Series X), meaning that we are possibly less than 3 months away from the console’s launch.

Furthermore, with official adverts and marketing materials being released to the wider market, hopefully an official release date, as well as prices, aren’t too far away.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
