PlatinumGames offers free Steam codes of The Wonderful 101 to some backers

Back in February, PlatinumGames kicked off its ‘Platinum4’ initiative with the announcement of The Wonderful 101: Remastered – a remastering of the 2013 Wii U exclusive. The game was a Kickstarter success, and was confirmed to be coming to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC. Unfortunately the effects of the global pandemic has led to difficulties with regards to fulfilling shipments of the game’s physical copies, with PlatinumGames compensating backers with free Steam codes.

Fans of The Wonderful 101 Remastered who had backed the title at the physical edition tier, received an email stating “Thank you for being backer number [blank] of PlatinumGames’ The Wonderful 101: Remastered! Unfortunately, due to the effects of the COVID-19 virus we are experiencing delays in the manufacturing processes for physical rewards. To apologize for the inconvenience and as thanks for your continued patience, we are providing a Steam code for The Wonderful 101: Remastered that can be redeemed and played immediately.”

The Physical edition of the game was originally estimated to be releasing sometime in April, and so despite the unfortunate circumstances of the delay, it is encouraging to see PlatinumGames offer Steam codes as an apology, despite the reasonings for the delay being out of their hands.

The Wonderful 101: Remastered’s Kickstarter was backed by a total of 33,000 fans, and raised over $2.25 million. If you have backed the game, and have yet to receive the physical copy of the game, make sure to check your emails to see if you too have received a free Steam code.
