Call of Duty Warzone hit 6 million players in just one day

After a succession of leaks, Call of Duty Warzone officially launched earlier this week, finally introducing battle royale gameplay to the COD franchise. Activision later confirmed via Twitter that Warzone had managed over 6 million players in its first 24 hours.

In a tweet posted on the official Call of Duty account, the game confirmed that ‘over 6 million of you have dropped into #Warzone', and that users can expect more from the game as it is ‘just getting started'. No other major details were revealed about the launch.

To put this into perspective, when Respawn released Apex Legends last year, the game hit over a million players in its first 24 hours, but 25 million after its first week and 50 million players in its first month. According to Daniel Ahmad, Senior Analyst at Niko Partners, Fortnite's free-to-play battle royale reached 10 million players after two weeks, so Warzone is clearly doing well compared to its rivals.

If you want to join in the fun, the game is completely free and is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One – to find out more, click HERE.
