The ROG Strix XG27WQ adds another high refresh rate gaming monitor to the already large portfolio from Asus. It may not offer anything that you would think of as ground-breaking or unique, however, its does pack in some high-end features we have come to expect from a gaming monitor these days, such as 165 Hz refresh rate and a 1ms (MPRT) response time, so gaming with this monitor will provide a fast and fluid experience.

It has been equipped with the tripod style stand that has become a tradition in recent gaming monitors from Asus. It also boasts a 2560 x 1440 resolution 27-inch VA panel, with a 1500R curvature for a more immersive feel. The ROG Strix XG27WQ includes AMD FreeSync Premium Pro adaptive sync technology to eliminate screen tearing and reduce latency, as well as being HDR400 certified to deliver a wide colour range and high contrast compared with traditional monitors.

The VA panel offers a wide colour palette, covering 92% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and 125% sRGB coverage, all monitors are factory calibrated to ensure colour accuracy and are supplied to the customer with a calibration report. The wide range of connectivity option including two HDMI 2.0 ports and a single DisplayPort 1.2 port, as well as USB 3.0 and a 3.5mm headphone jack located on the rear.

An ergonomic stand allows adjustment of height, tilt and swivel while other gamer specific features such as the Asus GamePlus suite and Asus GameVisual allow users to tune display presets to customise visuals with a low-blue light mode to help reduce fatigue caused by eye strain. Around the back is an RGB lighting zone that can be configured and synchronised to other Asus Aura Sync components.

Price and availability of the Asus ROG Strix XG27WQ curved gaming monitor is still to be revealed.

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
