Sonic The Hedgehog director says design changes are coming

At this point, you all likely know about the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog movie and the criticism surrounding Sonic's odd, humanised design. If you found the Sonic's new look unappealing, then there is potentially some good news on the horizon, as the film's director has said that changes are going to be made.

There has been a lot of feedback over this in the last few months. Many fans have created their own designs too, which do a better job of blending Sonic's classic look with the realism that this movie seems to be going for.

Following the trailer's debut, Sonic The Hedgehog director, Jeff Fowler, sent out the following message to fans: “Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be”.

Sonic The Hedgehog is due out in mid November this year, so there is still plenty of time for post production changes. Now we will just have to wait and see what Sonic ends up looking like later in the year.

KitGuru Says: Putting Sonic in a live-action movie was always going to be risky. Hopefully the studio will take some inspiration from some of the popular fan re-designs as changes start to be made.
