Sony’s PlayStation MENA Hero Project unveils 4 upcoming PS5 games

Over the past generation Sony has been putting an increasing focus on expanding its publishing practices, having set up various different HERO Projects across the world. Following the success of the China Hero Project, Sony has unveiled 4 additional titles joining the company’s Middle East and North Africa Hero Project – “each one a unique reflection of the creativity, and spirit of developers in the region.”

Making the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, Sony offered an update on its MENA Hero Project, unveiling 4 new titles joining the program.

Red Bandits is a “fast-paced robbery action game set in a hyper-capitalist age where one company rules the world through complete monopoly”. Developed by the Saudi Arabian studio Team Agenda, you’ll play as “Stutt, a seasoned old thief with a stuttering condition and a mysterious past he can’t fully remember”. Said to feature “a dynamic cover system, evolving heists, and a vibrant comrades’ hideout” Red Bandits looks to feature both an interesting concept and (hopefully) fun gameplay.

Enci’s Solution meanwhile is a “a hand-painted, 2.5D narrative platformer following the story of Ji’we, a young Aeon venturing out into the unknown in an attempt to save his dearest friend”. Being developed by UAE studio Dark Emerald, Enci’s Solution will feature over 40 levels, plenty of collectibles and hidden challenges.

The Tunisian-based ‘Lanterns Studios’ meanwhile is working on The Perfect Run – “an action-adventure RPG game where the player controls Quicksave, a time-traveling hero caught in an epic struggle between supervillain gangs, marketed superheroes, and a powerful mega corporation for the control of the city of New Rome.”

Last but certainly not least, A Cat’s Manor is described as “an atmospheric adventure that blends puzzles, combat, crafting, and rhythm-based music challenges”. Coming from Bahraini studio Happiest Dark Corner, A Cat’s Manor will make ample use of “3D audio and PS5 DualSense controller features” for its puzzles.

All 4 of these games are planned to come to both PlayStation 5 and PC. As with many of Sony’s other Hero Projects however, don’t expect to hear from these titles for quite some time. Still, with video games being a creative medium, it is exciting to see Sony expanding its reaches to many different regions – hopefully making for an industry which is more varied, unique and expressive.
