After 11 years, Borderless Gaming has finally reached V1.0

Borderless Gaming has been helping gamers manage unruly game windows for some time. After more than a decade, the developer has finally released version 1.0, bringing a massive overhaul with it. Relaunching on Steam as a premium, paid application, the new version has been completely redesigned from the ground up, featuring compelling new features such as its own vendor-neutral frame generation and upscaling tech.

Version 1.0 of Borderless Gaming (via VideoCardz) features both frame generation and upscaling solutions that are compatible with a wide range of hardware. This puts Borderless Gaming in direct competition with the popular Lossless Scaling tool, offering users a way to enable frame generation in games that don't support it natively. This is particularly great news for owners of older, pre-RTX 40-series Nvidia GPUs who don't have access to DLSS 3, or for games that lack FSR 3 support.

Beyond the performance-boosting tech, the update also adds new “App Container” features. This allows users to apply custom shaders, such as CRT filters, and custom backgrounds to their game windows, making it a powerful tool for retro and indie game fans who want to customise their visual experience. Steam Workshop support has also been integrated for sharing game profiles.

This massive feature update does come with a change in the business model. The new version of Borderless Gaming is available on Steam for a one-time purchase of £5.89/$6.99/€6.89. However, for those who need the original, no-frills window management, the developer has confirmed that the legacy version (v9.6.0) will remain available for free on the project's official GitHub page.
