Gigabyte introduces 4K/160Hz M27U gaming monitor

Gigabyte has already launched plenty of M27 gaming monitors. However, if you wanted a similar looking 4K gaming monitor, you would have to go for the M28U. Now, as an alternative, Gigabyte will launch the M27U, offering better specs than the 28-inch monitor in a slightly smaller package.

The new Gigabyte M27U comes with a 27-inch SS IPS with 4K resolution, 1ms response time (MPRT), and a 160Hz refresh rate (up from 144Hz on the M28U). The panel's contrast ratio is 1000:1, as is the standard for an IPS monitor. Typical Brightness is rated at 400 nits, but it should be able to peak up to 600 nits, as suggested by the VESA Display HDR600 certification of the monitor. Lastly, the 10-bit colour depth allows the monitor to cover up to 95% of the DCI-P3 and up to 129% of the sRGB colour spaces.

Supporting AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, you'll be able to enjoy a tear-free gaming experience. Moreover, the built-in KVM switch might come in handy if you have various systems connected to the monitor. Besides that, there are other features, such as overlays, PiP, PbP, Black Equalizer, 6-axis colour control, and an auto-update tool to ensure your monitor is running the latest firmware. Flicker-free technology and a TÜV Rheinland-certified low blue light mode are also featured within the monitor.

Connectivity options include 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, a Display port 1.4 (DSC), 3x USB-A 3.2 Gen1 interfaces, a USB-C with DP alternate mode and power delivery up to 18W, and an audio-out jack. The included stand allows you to tilt and adjust the height. However, you can also mount the monitor on a VESA 100×100 monitor arm.

KitGuru says: Even if smaller than the M28U, the increased pixel density, higher refresh rate and improved HDR capabilities might make this monitor the best of the two. However, if this comes at a higher price, you'll need to evaluate if the extra cost is worth the improved specs.
