Steelseries is acquiring KontrolFreek

Steelseries has made a new acquisition. Following A-Volute earlier this year, the gaming peripherals company has bought KontrolFreek, an industry leader in high-performance controller accessories, further improving SteelSeries position in the console gaming market.

For those who don't know, KontrolFreek is a private company that specialises in the creation of accessories to improve the precision, response time, and accuracy of gaming controllers. Some of those accessories include thumbsticks, grips, cables, and precision rings for the PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC gaming controllers.

The FreekNation community, created by KontrolFreek, has 4 million members – proof of the company's success so far. By acquiring KontrolFreek, SteelSeries can accelerate the implementation of the brand into the expanding controller and accessory market, creating new products for the console, PC, and mobile gamers.

Ehtisham Rabbani, CEO of SteelSeries, stated that with the launch of the next-gen consoles, SteelSeries plans “to provide the best gaming experiences and products to console gamers” through KontrolFreek's know-how. Ashish Mistry, CEO of KontrolFreek, stated that joining SteelSeries is a “huge milestone” for the company.

The financial terms of this acquisition have not been disclosed. If you're interested in KontrolFreek's accessories, you can check them out at its official website.
