G.Skill boosts mechanical keyboard range with new KM780R

G.Skill only recently entered the peripheral game, but it made big strides in 2015 with some of our favourite peripherals of the year coming from that camp. So it's good to hear that it plans to stay in the keyboard business, with the announcement of a new addition to that same Ripjaws range, the KM780R.

Much like the KM780, the R variant is a stripped back version, without the additional keycaps, carry case or cap remover tool. This all means that G.Skill can offer the whole thing at a reduced price point, even with its media keys, backlighting, mechanical switches and back-end software.

Buyers also have a choice of Red, Brown or Blue Cherry MX switches.

The price in the U.S. has been reduced by $10 from the standard KM780, to $160 for the RGB model and $120 for single colour backlighting. Unfortunately there is no pricing or availability information for the UK just yet.

KitGuru Says: Although it's almost identical to the Corsair K70, G.Skill's KM780 RGB is what I'm typing this news piece on. Its brown switches, solid build quality and volume scroll wheel finally had be replace my Steelseries 7G. That was a sad day.
