Acer’s new XV272XU monitor offers a 240Hz, QHD IPS-like panel

The upcoming Acer XV272XU has been listed on Taobao, a popular Chinese retailer. As per the listed specifications, it seems that this gaming monitor will be using an AUO Optronics ‘IPS-like' (AHVA) panel featuring a high refresh rate and QHD resolution.

This new screen is the successor to Acer's XV272UP gaming monitor, which released back in 2018, and while the overall design of the new XV272XU looks very similar to its predecessor, according to the listing on Taobao, there's a range of new features and upgrades to make this new screen worthwhile.

The 27-inch AUO Optronics AHVA panel features a 2560x1440p resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, and 1ms G2G response time. With 178/178º wide viewing angles, this 8-bit panel cover 99% of the Adobe RGB colour gamut, while also boasting a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 400 nits of brightness. Additionally, the XV272UX will support both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync anti-tearing, ComfyView and anti-flickering technologies, and it is VESA HDR400 certified.

The stand allows the monitor to swivel by -20º to 20º, pivot from -90º to 90º, and tilt from -5º to 25º. The height can also be adjusted by 120mm. Additionally, there's a VESA 100x100mm mount support and 2x 2W speakers. Connectivity options include 4x USB 3.0 Type-A ports, 1x USB Type-C port, 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, 1x Display Port 1.2, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Acer XV272XU is expected to release in Europe by Q3/4 2020. The listing shows a price of 5499CNY, which is about $770/€707/£632.
