Most consumer monitors fall within the classic 16:9 aspect ratio, with a few exceptions coming in at 16:10 or 4:3. However, LG decided to shake things up with the new DualUp monitor, a display aimed at creators and developers featuring a 16:18 aspect ratio.
Featuring a 28-inch Nano IPS panel with 2560×2880 resolution and 5ms response time (G2G), this 16:18 aspect ratio was designed to give users the screen area of two 21.5-inch monitors while only occupying the desk space of one. The monitor even has a vertical split view function, dividing the screen in half.
The contrast ratio is typical for an IPS panel, rated at 1000:1, while the brightness peaks at 300 nits. That helps the monitors cover up to 98% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Other features include HDR10 support, Reader mode, flicker-free technology, Black Stabilizer, a low blue light mode, a built-in KVM switch, PBP and Auto-Brightness. Moreover, the monitor comes factory-calibrated and can use Dynamic Action Sync to reduce input lag and Super Resolution+ for increased sharpness.
The included Ergo stand uses a clamp to secure itself to the desk, freeing up space. In addition, it allows users to move, rotate, swivel, and tilt the monitor freely. Available connectivity ports include 2x HDMI, 1x DP 1.4, 2x USB-A 3.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port supporting DP alt. mode and 90W power delivery. The new LG DualUp monitor is now available for $699.
