Samsung unveils world’s largest QLED gaming monitor at Gamescom

Earlier this year, we first began hearing about Samsung’s plans to launch a massive 49-inch mega-wide monitor, featuring a 32:9 aspect ratio. Now at Gamescom, Samsung is showing off its impressive panel, which sports the same QLED technology found in the company’s high-end TVs.

Over the last few years, 21:9 ultra wide monitors have become very popular. Samsung is taking things a step further with the CHG90 QLED Gaming Monitor, by jumping up to 32:9. The resolution in use here is 3840×1080, so this would be close to having two 27-inch 1080p monitors stitched together with no bezel.

The Samsung CHG90 QLED monitor can be found at Samsung’s Gamescom booth this weekend. Aside from the huge 49-inch panel and 32:9 aspect ratio, this monitor comes with some other benefits, including a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR support and a 1800R curvature. There is a 1ms (MPRT) response time too, so if you’re looking for gaming features, this monitor has plenty of them.

For connectivity, the CHG90 comes with two HDMI ports, a DisplayPort and an Audio Out. For now, we don’t have details on pricing or a release date but hopefully we will hear more in the coming weeks.

KitGuru Says: I very recently spent some time with a 21:9 3440×1440 monitor and came away very impressed. I can only imagine how much wider 32:9 would end up being. What do you guys think of Samsung’s new mega-wide monitor?
