ViewSonic introduces three new high refresh rate gaming monitors

ViewSonic has just expanded the Omni gaming monitor lineup with three new models. Ranging from FHD to QHD, all three have Fast IPS panels featuring a 165Hz refresh rate for a smooth gameplay experience.

Starting from the bottom, the VX2428 is a 24-inch FullHD monitor packing a Fast IPS panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and 0.5ms response time. Covering 104% of the sRGB colour gamut, this panel offers a typical brightness of 250 nits, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and an 8-bit (6-bit+FRC) colour depth. Then, there's the VX2728J, packing a 27-inch Fast IPS panel with a 165Hz refresh, FullHD resolution and 0.5ms response time. This one covers up to 132% of the sRGB spectrum but has the same brightness, contrast and colour depth as the VX2428.

Both monitors support AMD FreeSync Premium and AdaptiveSync and are VESA ClearMR-certified. The included stand of the VX2428 only lets you tilt, but the one on the VX2728J also allows you to swivel, make height adjustments and pivot. Connectivity options are the same for both, each having a DisplayPort, 2x HDMI 1.4 ports, and a 3.5mm audio-out jack. Lastly, there are two 2W speakers on each of these models.

The other monitor is the VX2728J-2K, which packs a 27-inch IPS panel with a 165Hz refresh rate, QHD resolution and 0.5ms response time. With 250nits of typical brightness, a 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 10-bit colour depth, this monitor's sRGB colour gamut coverage is rated at 131%. The included stand is the same as the VX2728J, but like the other two, there's support for a VESA 100x100mm monitor arm. This model also comes with two 2W speakers, but connectivity options are slightly different, featuring a 3.5mm audio-out jack, 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, and a DisplayPort.

UK and EU pricing is unknown, but in the US, the VX2428 will go for $159. The VX2728J will cost $200, and the VX2728J-2K will cost $250.

KitGuru says: Overall, these monitors look to be priced decently, but we're especially curious about the VX2728J-2K. It's not every day we see a high refresh rate QHD monitor with a proper ergonomic stand for that price.
