Overclockers RENDA PW-E7F Workstation Review

The Overclockers RENDA PW-E7F is a very strong entry into the workstation market for Overclockers. It's extremely strong in all areas of modelling, and very capable at rendering too.

We would still recommend a multi-socket Xeon if rendering is a greater focus than modelling, but as an all-rounder the PW-E7F is hard to beat. You will still need to decide whether the AMD FirePro W8100 is the best professional graphics card for your chosen application, but for some – such as Maya and 3ds Max – our testing shows that it is very capable indeed.

At £4,060.93 including VAT, this is quite an expensive system, when the PC Specialist system we compared it to is at least £1,500 cheaper. The latter may have fewer cores, half the memory, and no water cooling, but these may be compromises you are willing to make for the reduction in cost.

We will also have to remain silent on how well Overclockers can support the users of professional 3D content creation applications compared to vendors who have been selling systems to the professional market for decades, like Armari. But the five-year warranty is at least a good start here. Overall, though, we are impressed by the quality and build of the hardware and look forward to what future RENDA workstations could offer.
