For years now, Epic Games and Disney have had a close working relationship. Unreal Engine has been used for Disney Park attractions and film productions, while Disney has also leveraged Fortnite to promote its treasure trove of IP. It is now being claimed that Disney executives are waiting for their opportunity to swoop in and buy Epic Games outright. 

Back in 2023, Epic Games had to undergo massive cuts, reducing headcount by around 870 employees due to financial constraints. Now in 2026, Epic Games has found itself in a similar position once again. This time, Epic is letting go of over 1000 employees.

The games industry analysts at NewZoo have revealed the top 20 most-played PC games of 2025, showing that the majority of playtime is concentrated across a select few long-running IPs like Counter Strike, Diablo, WoW, Call of Duty and more.
