We're 15 years on from the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and we are still getting hugely interesting mods. This week, IKEA tried its hand at a Skyrim mod, adding in a new quest that rewards players with a sentient shelving unit, voiced by none other than Matt Berry. 

Typically, the announcement of a new video game update is met with excitement, as fans look forward to whatever new content / fixes are in store. When it comes to Bethesda though, updates are far less celebrated due to the fact that they often break mods and can even lead to new issues. In service of giving fans a heads-up, BGS has announced that both Fallout 4 and Skyrim will be receiving updates this year.

If you were only vaguely aware of Lord of the Rings: War in the North prior to this week's re-release, it turns out there is probably a good reason for that. A former WB Games employee has recently shed light on why the game didn't get any time in the spotlight when it first came out - it launched right next to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

This didn’t quite pan out, and so for the first time in decades Bethesda did what fans had been asking – they made the game better. Starfield is Bethesda Game Studios’ most improved title.

Bethesda Game Studios’ Creation Engine is a bit of a double edged sword. While the first-party engine certainly has its benefits, many of BGS’ biggest failings tech-wise can be attributed (at least partially) to it. Despite previously stating that The Elder Scrolls VI would make use of Starfield’s Creation Engine 2, Todd Howard has now revealed that TES6 will in fact be running on their newly-announced Creation Engine 3.
