Cooler Master Pitch Pro Earphones Review

Cooler Master is marketing the CM Storm Pitch Pro earphones towards gamers, so that is where I focused most of my testing over the last few days. While over the ear style headsets are more common for gamers, some may need something smaller and lighter for general use or traveling.

To kick things off, while using these earphones, I stuck with the pre-installed tips as I found them to be the most comfortable, with no reason to change to a different size. While some earphones may cause discomfort over long periods of time, I simply forgot that the CM Storm Pitch Pro buds were even in my ears after a few rounds of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

While playing games, the CM Storm Pitch Pro in-ears perform very well. I was fully immersed in my environment while playing Counter-Strike, with footsteps and gun shots coming through very clearly – which helps in competitive matches.

Additionally, I found that the passive noise cancellation works pretty well. I live near a fairly busy area so it is not uncommon for me to hear cars driving by – but with these earphones, that background noise was unnoticeable for the most part.

While these earphones are marketed towards gamers, chances are, you are going to be using them for other purposes as well, like listening to music. So with that in mind, I decided to fire up my Spotify playlist as well. As far as music listening goes, there is plenty of bass but the mid-range can come across somewhat muffled. I would consider these buds fine for occasional use.

In all, the audio quality holds up fairly well, the sound quality won't blow you away, but when compared with other in-ear headphones, like the standard Apple Ear Pods I like to keep lying around, the Pitch Pros perform at a different level.

Chances are if your using these for gaming, you're also going to be making use of the microphone. The in-line microphone can be used for in-game voice chat or Skype calls. It's an omni-directional microphone so it will pick up background noise. It's not the greatest microphone in the world, but as far as in-line solutions go, the quality is acceptable.
