Report claims Naughty Dog are also working on a new Uncharted

In celebration of this year’s edition of The Last of Us Day, the team at Naughty Dog offered their first studio update in quite some time, confirming that alongside their ongoing work on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet a total of two other projects are in development – both being connected to The Last of Us. That said, according to insiders, the studio is actually working on four projects in total; one of which is a brand new Uncharted game.

Studio head Neil Druckmann recently released a letter as part of this year’s TLOU Day, informing fans of Naughty Dog’s current output, writing: “We have a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages – so we can’t say much about them at this point. I will tell you that both projects will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II.”

Of course, alongside these two projects, Naughty Dog are currently deep into development on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, their first new IP since 2013’s The Last of Us.

According to the publication mp1st, “sources familiar with the situation” have claimed that Naughty Dog are also working on “an all-new Uncharted game” being directed by Shaun Escayg – the creative behind 2017’s underrated Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

This lines up with some teasers from earlier in the year, in which Escayg shared a vibrant image from Fort George in Trinidad & Tobago of an old cannon overlooking a beautiful island alongside the caption “Research…”, leading many to speculate that work was proceeding on a new Uncharted entry.

Going back to this latest report, the aforementioned sources have claimed that this ‘all-new’ Uncharted game will still feature series protagonist Nathan Drake in one form or another (though it could ultimately be as minor as a cameo).

Last but not least, this unannounced project could be arriving sooner than expected, with mp1st claiming that Uncharted will be the next game in-line for release following Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet but prior to the inevitable TLOU Part III.
