As they did with the original Switch, Bethesda has been slowly but surely bringing its games over to the Nintendo Switch 2, with the likes of Fallout 4 and Skyrim already available on the console maker’s latest system. One promised title which has yet to release however is The Elder Scrolls VI: Oblivion Remastered. Announced previously to be coming some time this year, the UE5-based remake has now gotten a full Switch 2 release date.
Earlier this year during Nintendo’s Partner Direct showcase, Bethesda Softworks announced that a number of its previously-published games would be getting bespoke Switch 2 versions. These included Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – both of which are available now to play.
As mentioned, Oblivion Remastered was also announced at the time, but no release date was provided. Finally however, Bethesda has officially confirmed that TES IV: Oblivion Remastered is coming to Switch 2 on the 11th of August.
The trailer only showed a bit of gameplay, and so it is tough to judge how the title will look and perform on the handheld. That said, given that Oblivion Remastered still suffers from performance issues on the likes of PS5, expect some roughness.
Ending on a positive note, it has now also been confirmed that the physical edition of Oblivion Remastered for Switch 2 will include all data on the cartridge – a welcome change compared to some of Microsoft’s other multi-platform releases.
