Update (14/05/18): After a handful of leaks, Bethesda has finally made Rage 2 official, debuting its announcement trailer. Full of pink-clad post-apocalyptic mayhem, the Rage 2 trailer forgoes in-game footage in favour of a stylistic live-action approach with a gameplay reveal coming later today.
The tone of the trailer seems to show that Bethesda won’t be taking too serious of an approach with its sequel, however most questions will likely be answered when the official gameplay reveal lands at 7am PST/3pm BST today.
Digging deeper into Bethesda’s updated site, its Rage 2 page reveals that the upcoming sequel is “developed in association with Avalanche Studios, trading as Fatalist Entertainment AB,” thanks to Resetra user Stygr. If this holds some truth to it, it looks like Rage 2 is in great hands with the Just Cause and Mad Max developers.
Original story (14/05/18): After 8-years in the making, Bethesda’s long awaited sequel to 2010’s Rage was leaked last week, after it was included within a large selection of listings from Walmart Canada. This has now been confirmed, with a second leak debuting Rage 2’s teaser trailer before the publisher could officially reveal the sequel later today.
Since Rage 2’s listing appeared on Walmart Canada, Bethesda revived the title’s official Twitter account to address the leak. The post comically criticised the crudely lacking box art with its own similarly effortless diagram, powered by often-criticised fonts Papyrus and Comic Sans.
Bethesda’s official Twitter account then replied to Rage’s post, simply stating “Dude” before continuing to tease cryptic images emblazoned with the same bright pink seen on the original correction. The first post of London’s Big Ben notably displayed the clock hands at 5:14, suggesting that the publisher had something big incoming on the 14th May.

The Twitter account then posted a series of images, each featuring Rage’s distinct post-apocalyptic theme and the majority sporting the same date. This was further connected to Rage when the game’s official Twitter account piped up once more with a tweet bluntly stating “C:\Desktop\Videos\AnnounceTrailer\Monday.”
Of course, in true video game fashion, Twitter user Wario64, who also provided the world with a screenshot to Walmart Canada’s leak, managed to get his hands on the official teaser trailer before it landed. While the teaser GIF is still available on the embedded tweet, fans will have to wait until later to view the full YouTube video as a copyright claim has already seen it removed.

Currently, it is not known what developer is working on Rage 2, when the title will drop or for what platforms, however it is expected to follow a similar over-the-top post-apocalyptic style as its predecessor. Hopefully today’s reveal gives us more than just a few images.
KitGuru Says: It looks like Rage 2 will be taking one of the two major announcement slots for Bethesda at this year’s E3. Given that the publisher has emphasised that one is a brand new IP, it is increasingly unlikely that fans will see a new Elder Scrolls announced in 2018.
