Alienware unveils ‘world’s fastest IPS gaming monitor’ with 500Hz refresh rate

This week at Gamescom, Dell has joined the list of companies announcing new hardware, unveiling a new ultra-fast Alienware gaming monitor. With a 500Hz refresh rate and low 0.05ms response time, this is claimed to be the fastest IPS gaming monitor in the world right now.

The Alienware AW2524HF was first shown at CES earlier this year but it is returning for a second appearance this week at Gamescom. The monitor features an IPS panel with a native 480Hz refresh rate, but activating the overclocking mode will push it up to 500Hz. The response time fluctuates a bit, with a low of 0.05ms, going up to 1ms GTG in ‘Extreme Mode', making it perfectly swift for competitive gaming.

As you may have guessed based on the refresh rate alone, this is a 1080p monitor. Using the monitor's HDMI 2.1 connection, you'll get a maximum refresh rate of 255Hz, while using one of the two DisplayPort 1.4 ports will net you the bandwidth needed to game at 500Hz.

As you may expect from a high-end gaming monitor, features like FreeSync Premium and VESA Adaptive Sync are supported for tear-free gaming and you will benefit from HDR10 support for a wider colour range in supported content. The monitor covers 99% of the sRGB colour space. Other handy features include a strand with height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustments and a retractable headphone hangar, so you can keep your headset from cluttering your desk in between games.

The Alienware AW2524HF will be available starting on the 12th of September, priced at $649.99 USD. Unfortunately, we don't have UK-specific pricing and availability details right now.
