Steam breaks concurrent user record again

Steam has set a new record for concurrent players, reaching over 43.5 million simultaneous users in October 2026. The milestone continues a decade-long growth trend for Valve's PC gaming storefront.

SteamDB data shows that Steam's October peak rose from 41.6 million concurrent users in 2025 to 43.5 million in 2026. Of those users, 14.46 million were actively in-game during the peak, while the remainder were browsing, chatting, or shopping.

Before that, Valve recorded 38.1 million users in October 2024, up from 31.3 million in October 2023 and 30.2 million in 2022. Earlier growth figures show peak counts of 26.5 million in 2021, 23.1 million in 2020, 16.8 million in 2019, and 16.3 million in 2018.

Although these numbers are impressive, we still have a few months before the year ends, including the holiday season. On the other hand, with GTA VI launching only on consoles, Steam could actually see a drop in users during November and December.
