LG’s latest UltraGear gaming monitor packs a 240Hz OLED display

A couple of weeks ago, LG expanded its OLED PC monitor lineup with a new Ultrafine display, aimed at creators. Now, the company is unveiling its next OLED display for the gaming market, offering 1440p and 240Hz, but pricing is still quite high.

OLED monitors are more expensive than their IPS counterparts. Typically, you can pick up an IPS monitor with 1440p resolution and 240Hz refresh rate for around £500. The new LG UltraGear 27GR95QE-B comes in at $999, so you are paying more for the OLED technology, which offers deeper blacks and better contrast ratios. Other specs of the panel include 0.3ms G2G response time, a 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio and 10-bit colour depth that covers 98.5% of the DCI-P3 colour spectrum.

Besides supporting AMD FreeSync Premium, it's also G-Sync compatible, meaning you can enjoy a smoother gaming experience regardless of your GPU. Like most gaming monitors nowadays, it features a black stabiliser, gaming overlays (crosshair, FPS counter, etc.), multiple colour presets and an HDR effect mode. The monitor is DTS HP: X-certified and calibrated out-of-the-box (hardware calibration supported).

Available video outputs include two HDMI interfaces and a DisplayPort. In addition, there's a SPDIF out port, a 4-pole audio jack and two USB-A 3.0 ports. On the back, there's also an RGB hexagon that should be customisable. The included stand lets you tilt, swivel, pivot (counterclockwise only), and adjust the height. EU/UK pricing and availability has not yet been announced, but over in the US, the LG UltraGear 27GR95QE-B will sell for $999.99.
