Samsung and Google team up for new smart glasses

Samsung and Google have unveiled their new smart glasses at Google I/O 2026, showcasing two styles developed in collaboration with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. The glasses are engineered as phone companions, allowing users to access Google's Gemini AI and smartphone features via voice commands.

The hardware integration combines Samsung's engineering with Google's AI technology, while each eyewear partner provides a distinct visual approach. Gentle Monster's designs emphasise a trendier aesthetic, whereas Warby Parker offers traditional frame designs.

The eyewear provides hands-free assistance by allowing users to request navigation routing, ask Gemini for local suggestions, and place pickup orders via voice commands. The system also handles incoming text message summaries, calendar entry management, and real-time audio translation that matches the speaker's voice. Additionally, the integrated cameras enable the device to translate physical text, such as menus or signage, directly in the user's line of sight, alongside standard photo-capture functions in the Galaxy ecosystem.

The first wave of smart glasses is set to launch later this year. Samsung and Google state that additional product details and pricing will be announced closer to release.
