HIS HD5550 Silence 1GB DDR3 Review

The HIS card is supplied within a very understated white box with a sword taking center stage.

The box opens with the card encased within a tough plastic protective container.

Underneath is a manual and a CD with driver. Always best getting your drivers from the AMD site however, and we recommend you get the brand new Catalyst 10.6 drivers for maximum image quality.

The card is passively cooler and has a substantial cooler on top to make sure it all runs within specifications. It is built around a blue coloured PCB.

Underneath the cooler we can see the pin connector for the reference fan, obviously it is not connected on this ‘Silence Edition'. The memory on this card is DDR3 running at 1300mhz.

The card supports, VGA, DVI and HDMI outputs which is the same as the reference design.

The card flipped onto its underside.

  1. thats actually very nice, I like the DDR3 option, i was amazed sapphire were still selling cards with DDR2, even if its lower end. id go for this rather than sapphire tbh.
