When taking the competitive price point into account, there's little to complain about with Crucial's CT4K8G4DFD8213 2133MHz DDR4 memory. No, the kit won't win any performance awards, and it certainly won't be ranked highest for aesthetics. But when it comes to price vs performance, Crucial's sticks deliver strong value.
Out-of-the-box performance is solid. It comes as no surprise that the Crucial set is not quite able to match the performance shown by Corsair's significantly faster and higher priced Vengeance LPX 3200MHz kit, but the performance deficits are typically small.
To those interested in gaming and media conversion, in addition to enough multi-tasking to saturate more than 16GB of system memory, a high-density kit with higher speeds than Crucial's modules is unlikely to show tangible performance gains. But if your workloads are sensitive to memory frequency in a similar fashion to 7-Zip, a higher-speed set of memory or overclocking of Crucial's modules may be justifiable.
Available for just under £150 at OverclockersUK, Crucial's CT4K8G4DFD8213 set of memory sits at the bottom of 32GB DDR4-2133MHz kit pricing. Comparing the ~£150 cost to current 32GB DDR3 pricing yields a close similarity between the cost of the newer memory technology and that for previous generation platforms. And that's what many consumers have been wanting to see.
