We will outline the performance increases that can be obtained from using the MSI Z170A XPower Gaming Titanium Edition motherboard to overclock our system. Our overclocked processor frequency was 4.8GHz and memory speed was maintained at 3200MHz.
As a performance comparison, we have included the overclocked results from two other Z170 motherboards. The maximum overclocked configuration achieved with each board was a 4800MHz (48 x 100MHz) processor frequency and 3200MHz CL16 memory speed.
Overclocking sees MSI's XPower Titanium show notable gains over the stock-clocked reference system.
MSI's board shows solid performance in 3DMark, 7-Zip and GTA V, however the performance falls a little behind the competition in Cinebench. The slight Cinebench slowdown seems to relate to the CPU workload allocation of MSI's software apps that are running in the background by default.
