Western Digital Black PCIe Gen3x4 NVMe 512GB SSD Review

AS SSD is a great free tool designed just for benching Solid State Drives. It performs an array of sequential read and write tests, as well as random read and write tests with sequential access times over a portion of the drive. AS SSD includes a sub suite of benchmarks with various file pattern algorithms but this is difficult in trying to judge accurate performance figures.

In the more stringent AS-SSD tests, the Sequential read performance drops quite considerably down to 1,320MB/s while the write performance remains fairly close to the official 800MB/s at 731MB/s. However, the overall AS-SSD score marks the Black PCIe down as more of an entry level NVMe drive than anything else.
