Arctic Power Bank 4000 Review

The Arctic Power Bank 4000 seems fairly compact for a device which boasts more than twice the battery power of the new iPhone 6.  It is features an attractive black brushed aluminium finish which makes it look and feel like a premium product.

Turning the unit over reveals a rubberised paint finish on the back which prevents the device from slipping around on your desk.  This feels very nice to the touch and matches the quality of the aluminium plate on the top well.

Measuring 117 x 54 x 11 mm, the Power Bank 4000 is fairly compact and will easily slip into your pocket or bag without much disturbance.  It is heavier than expected, though, weighing in at 107g in total.

This makes it nearly as heavy as most modern smartphones, meaning you are likely to feel it in your pocket.

Both of the connections are located on one end of the device.  We find a standard size female USB socket here which will let you plug in all manner of mobile devices, providing you have the appropriate cables.  There is also a female micro-USB connector here which lets you charge the device using the provided cable.

The power button is also located on this end of the device, featuring two LED's which indicate the power status of the device.  When the green LED is flashing the device holds between 75% and 100% power, when the red and green lights flash alternatively, the device holds between 75% and 25% power and when the red light flashes, the device holds less than 25% power.  In our testing, the device took around 6 hours and 20 minutes to charge from empty to full.

While the 4000 mAh capacity of the Power Bank 4000 might suggest that we would achieve two full charges of our iPhone 6, it wasn't actually able to achieve much more than one full charge.  Still, this is sure to be useful to a lot of people, especially those who find themselves having to re-charge their phone throughout the day when they are on the move.
