Microsoft Corp. on Monday sent invitations to an event, where it plans to introduce its mobile devices running Windows 10 operating system. The list of gadgets is expected to include the company’s new Surface tablet, Lumia smartphones and a fitness tracker.

“We're eager to share some exciting news about Windows 10 devices,” a Microsoft spokeswoman told Reuters news-agency.

The software giant is expected to unveil its highly-anticipated Surface Pro 4 tablet, new Lumia smartphones as well as Band 2 wearable fitness tracker at its event on the 6th of October.

Microsoft released its Windows 10 operating system, which is designed for different kinds of computers, in late July. At present multiple companies offer notebooks, 2-in-1 hybrids and desktops based on the OS. The new devices from Microsoft will be the first mobile and ultra-mobile products to run Windows 10.

Earlier this year Satya Nadella, chief executive officer of Microsoft, said that the company will cease to offer wide range of smartphones. It is likely that the new family of Windows 10-based Lumia handsets will consist of only two or three models.
