Ubisoft’s XDefiant delayed again

While XDefiant seemed like a surprisingly good competitor for Call of Duty this year, the game has unfortunately suffered some setbacks. The game was due to release a while back but failed console certification, delaying the release by a couple of weeks. Now, the game has been delayed again, this time due to unforeseen issues that crept up during a recent playtest. 

In an update posted this week, the Ubisoft confirmed that XDefiant has been delayed again. There is no public timeline for the game's release yet, but like with all other things XDefiant-related, we probably won't have to wait too long for another update. I think we can assume that the plan is still to ship in 2023, rather than pushing the game back to next year.

In the message, Ubisoft confirms that it encountered “inconsistencies” during a recent playtest on the game's Public Test Server (PTS).

When the game does eventually drop, it will kick off with a ‘Preseason', a smaller season intended as more of an open beta, before diving into the proper seasons, which will run every three months, as is typical for a modern online multiplayer game.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully whatever these issues were, they can be ironed out quickly. With beta feedback for Modern Warfare 3 looking negative, XDefiant has a real chance to garner some good attention if it can release in a polished state.
