Intel is teasing 5.5GHz clock speeds for Core i9-12900KS

Last month, we shared a rumour about Intel releasing a pre-binned version of the i9-12900K. Named i9-12900KS, this new SKU would come with an all-core maximum clock speed of 5.2GHz, but according to a tweet from the chip company, it looks like the maximum single-core might be slightly higher, set at 5.5GHz.

In its latest tweet, Intel teased that 5.5GHz processors are coming. Alongside the tweet, Intel also shared a screenshot showing HWiNFO running, reading an undisclosed processor reaching 5.5GHz processors on a single P-core, while the remaining P-cores were clocked at 5.2GHz.

Whether this is a Raptor Lake processor or the rumoured Core i9-12900KS is unclear, but the latter is the most likely considering the rumours. If this is indeed the Core i9-12900KS, we can expect equal or even higher clock speeds from the flagship Raptor Lake processor.

Today, Intel will hold its CES 2022 press conference, where we might learn more about this processor, which is rumoured to launch in Q1 2022. The live stream will start at 6PM GMT if you're interested in seeing it.

KitGuru says: We may see some very impressive speeds if all the rumours around the Core i9-12900KS pan out.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
